I Like Men
2002 Single channel video, 40 seconds, transf Edition of 15 signed and numbered examples
$1,000
I Like Men was originally produced in 2000 as a single channel video, 40 seconds in length. It was transferred to a continuous DVD loop in an edition of 15 in 2002, published by World House Editions. This was also the first time one of Anne's videos was produced as a DVD.
San Francisco-based video, sound and performance artist Anne McGuire uses video as a confessional tool, a device to record her difficult and traumatic personal experiences for public consumption and as such, is always a presence in her videos, whether or not she’s in front of the lens. Anne's work has been shown as part of exhibitions and screenings at such institutions as the Tate Gallery, London, the Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, YYZ Artists Outlet, Toronto, and the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, as well as numerous international video and film festivals from San Francisco to Dallas, from New York to Amsterdam and even Croatia. Some of her most recent work, in particular, I Like Men, combines drawing/paper animation with sound, an animated homage to manly virtues. Anne is the recipient of a "Goldie 2001" award from the San Francisco Bay Guardian as an outstanding local discovery.
